WAYNE, Neb. — The Fred G. Dale Planetarium at Wayne State College will host “Season of Light,” a high-definition, full-dome presentation that traces the history of many of the world’s holiday customs.
Shows will be Dec. 6 and 13 at 3:30 p.m., Dec. 7-11 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 12 at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. There is no admission charge. Special showings are available upon request.
The show will involve customs that light up the winter season like burning the Yule log, Christmas tree lights, candles in windows, the lighting of luminarias and the Hanukkah Menorah.
It will also recount religious and cultural rituals practiced during the time of winter solstice and take a look at some of our more light-hearted traditions such as gift-giving, kissing under the mistletoe and Santa Claus.
